CHECK THE BALANCE ON YOUR SHOULDERS BEFORE YOU PORTAGE. Shift gear items to other Lash-It™ loops to correct the balance. Don't skip this important step. An unbalanced canoe is very difficult to portage.

ONCE YOU GET THE BALANCE CORRECT, "lock it in" so you can set it up the same for all of your portages.

SECURING SKINNY ITEMS LIKE PADDLE SHAFTS & FISHING RODS. Unhook the quick release hook and make a wrap of the elastic cord around the skinny item, then adjust the cord tension and secure the quick release hook again. You'll find this method really holds those skinny objects firmly.
